Emergency Light Testing

About This Service

What is emergency light testing?

In the event of an emergency or power outage, a commercial property is required to have a well illuminated path for employees and clients with the use of emergency lights, making it easier for people to safely evacuate the building. These well illuminated signs in conjunction with easily readable emergency evacuation diagrams save precious time and can be the difference between life and death.

Why do you need regular maintenance?

For any commercial building to be safe, emergency lights need to be illuminated for a minimum of 90 minutes in the event of power loss to the building in accordance with Australian standards (AS/NZS 2293.2:1995). Due to regular wear and tear over time, emergency lights can become dirty, non-functional or not meet the 90 minute illumination requirement. In the interest the safety the building’s occupants, it is required that emergency lights be tested every 6 months by a certified professional.

How we perform emergency light testing:

PLE Electrical Service will work with you to ensure that the emergency lights and exit signs on your premises are operational and that testing is performed every 6 months, as required by the legislation. We perform the following when we arrive on site:

✔ Inspect all emergency lights and exit signs on the property to see if they are operational.

✔ Provide a log book detailing the test results.

✔ Perform a 90 minute discharge test and provide a quote to replace any fittings that did not meet the test requirements.
